Have you done much protection work with the boerboels you have? If so, please tell us about it. How has it worked out for you so far?

Not in the sport sense. I did try PSA when i first got my boels but decided I was just not ready to take on something like that until i learned alot more handling skills and more about the organization and training. I didn't want to screw up perfectly good dogs and end up getting hurt or hurting someone else due to my ignornance.

However, as for their purpose to exist sense, yes they work on a daily basis protecting my home, livestock and property. They've been put to the test several times unfortunately in real life situations and have always amazed me with their natural born abilities.

The only training my guys have ever had is obediance and then the novelty stuff like weight pull or agility. Nothing major. Yet when there is a threat that i'm un aware of or that is unplanned they all handle the situations as i would want them too.

When we first moved to this house i was working til late night and came home and let the dogs out of the crates (was only first week and wanted them to learn house rules before i let them roam a new place when i was gone). I never knew there was a burglar/rapist at my back door. I opened the crate and Precious came barreling down the hall way hit my back doors so hard it actually broke the door frame. The guy was on my back porch  and she alerted and held him while i dialed 911. The guy got ballsy and decided to jump off the porch and run, Precious ran to the end of the porch barking and carying on until she didn't see him anymore. She stayed right there between me and the guy making sure i was safe. Once the cops were gone she was her normal palyful self like nothing ever happened.

I had guys taunt me one time when i was walking her in a town i was unfamiliar with. She was by my side the whole time and never wavered, when they came close and taunted more, she alerted and i warned them to back off. One guy stepped toward her acting like he was gonna jump on her and she lounged. Right about that time here came this little kid. My heart sank, i was so sure she was going to accidentally get the kid, but she didn't she immediately calmed down and put herself between the kid, me and the idiot guys. She never took her eyes off them and made sure to keep it that way until they finally were out of sight. Then she proceeded to love on the kid like she'd known it forever.

My girls have teamed up against coyotes and have litterally faught to near death. Poor Vader and Kabuki fought off a couple of them that were in my yard after their pups. Vader suffered a punctured artery in her forearm and was still fighting to save her babies. Typically coyotes will run, but these apparently were awful hungry. She was rushed to the vet and after getting some blood and stitched up she was back home that evening taking care of her pups.

They've teamed up and kept my brother in laws mustang from being broken into and stolen. THe alterted until the moron kicked at them and then he got bit. Low and behold he finally went to hospital and the sherrifs were notified that he was there with dog bite wounds. They found a whole stash of stolen stuff in the dummy's car that he'd ripped off before getting to our place.

Thats just a few things. I never had to tell them to do these things. I don't expect or want to have to tell them what to do. They will naturally alert to someone or something being here and wait for my approval or if i'm not arround make the judgements on their own. THe whole purpose of me having them is that i feel protected and confident that they can be an active family member as well as guardian when needed.

We can attend therapy, charity events, and shows, and have fun and not worry about people being in danger of them or visa versa. And at the same time be confident that they would protect me no matter what in a bad situation.

You have some nice looking dogs there. I am sure you are pleased with your dog's responses to those situations as well. Should you choose to do some organized PP training, I wish you great success. Keep us posted. Good luck.
